An Invitation
In support of the revisions to the General Studies degree program, we will be initiating a two year pilot to explore the use of eportfolios at Montgomery College. Our primary interest in eportfolios is in supporting student success, retention, and completion by creating an experience that will:
The purpose of the pilot is to explore the pragmatic and pedagogical feasibility of using ePortfolios and to build the College’s capacity for supporting ePortfolios if the pilot is deemed successful. There are many questions and concerns around the use of ePortfolios; this pilot seeks to answer some of those questions so that we can determine if or how we could move forward.
Over the two year period, individual faculty are invited to participate in the pilot by embedding a program level ePortfolio experience in a section or more of a course. Faculty can choose to participate any semester in the pilot; they can participate for one or more semesters.
We will evaluate the pilot through faculty and student feedback as well as by following the students who participated using their semester to semester retention and course specific and overall GPA as measures for success..
For more information on the pilot, please see the attached overview documents and power point from the information sessions.
If you would like to participate in the pilot, please complete the interest form or contact [email protected] , [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected]
Further, information sessions will be held in the fall semester for future participation.
